Socialize! Make new friends!
The first two years of a dog's life are very important. Socializing your puppy early can prevent many problems. Those that are not socialized will become overly shy and timid, and may be mistaken as aggression when it really is just fear.
Expose your puppy to anything he might be exposed to in the future, such as encountering different dog breeds, pets, people of different ages, genders, races, and being in different environments. The best way to socialize a puppy with other dogs is to take it to a puppy parties or a puppy class. There's also Pet Hotels that run Day Camps where your dog can socialize with others in a safe and supervised area while you're at work.

Game play
Make sure to teach your do how to play with other dogs. Teach a pit bull how to not be rough by correcting it whenever it does. Teach terriers not to nip other dogs on the feet. Teach Labs not to jump when exited. Supervise the way they play, and don't get your eyes of them until you can fully trust them. Also teach your dog how to share the toys; don't let your dog take the ball out of another dogs mouth or be possessive over it.
Take it slow
Don't rush introductions with other pets or small children. Let them get used to each other slowly and safely. Meeting many people at once can be overwhelming and can shut down a shy puppy.
